Natural Blast from the Past: Bob Marley

I think we all pretty much know Bob Marley. He was a great musician, singer, and songwriter. My favorite songs by him are "No Woman, No Cry" and "I Shot the Sheriff". I mainly like his greatest hits but, I'm not a gun ho fan that know all his songs. But, I can appreciate great reggae music.

His locs are the bizness. Thick, long, lucious. They perfectly complimented that gorgeous chiseled face with those hypnotic sunken cheekbones.

Beautiful Natural Men: Gary Dourdan

I remember when watching "A Different World" back in the day, I thought "Shaza" was so cute. His locs were gorgeous--even though I didn't always like the role of the actor. And when he was in that Janet Jackson video--out of this world.

Now, Gary Dourdan is most known for his role on CSI. And even though he no longer has the locs his textured afro is just as beautiful.

It's obvious he is a beautiful man and the confidence is exudes is just out of this world.

So, Gary Dourdan you are definitely a Beautiful Natural Man in my book.

Natural Inspiration: Isaiah and Marie Washington

I had plans to feature Isaiah Washington as a "Beautiful Natural Man". However, while searching the net for pictures of him, I noticed that his wife, Marie, was simply GORGEOUS. She was rocking a gorgeous TWA that fit her face beautifully. And at one point she was completely bald and it looked so good on her!

So, this post is for an inspiring and beautiful natural couple. It's good to see a man with a woman who appreciates her natural beauty.

Beautiful Natural Men: Lenny Kravitz

Ok, so I must admit that I am not a big Lenny Kravitz fan. However, I can recognize a beautiful man when I see one. So, I am definitely featuring him today.

First off, Lenny Kravitz has always held it down on the natural forefront. I don't think there has ever been a time that he has not rocked a natural hairstyle. Personally, I can't really decide which look of his I like best. The locs were GORGEOUS. The textured afro is BEAUTIFUL. So, I just can't make up my mind and won't try.

It was kinda hard trying to narrow down which pictures of his I wanted to post up because he is so photogenic and takes good pics. (He really is beautiful). So, I just chose them randomly:-)

Beautiful Natural Men: Don Cheadle

Okay, so I know that Don Cheadle mainly wears his hair closely cropped. However, there have been times that he wore a textured mid-sized afro. (He wore a small afro in the Oceans movies.) Also, I just think he's beautiful and had to feature him as a beautiful natural man.

My favorite feature of Don Cheadle is his smile. It is so attractive and inviting. Therefore, he deserves to be a beautiful natural man.

Great Linkage: Troy Polamalu's Hair Insured for $1 Million

I was simply browsing the internet and imagine my surprise when I saw that Troy Polamalu's hair is now insured for $1 million. That is amazing. As of yet, they are not sure if this is a publicity stunt but, it is shocking nonetheless.

In the past, I featured Troy as a "Beautiful Natural Men". His hair is simply gorgeous so maybe it is best that he gets it insured. I even expressed concern over his hair streaming down his back during games. You never know when someone could become vindictive.

Beautiful Natural Men: Eric Benet

What a beautiful voice Eric Benet has!! My fave song by him is "Love of My Own" (go check it out). He is truly a talented and gorgeous man!

Now, let me focus on his hair. Eric's hair has always been gorgeous to me. I loved his locs, his free-formed afro, and his textured crop look. It just seems like any style works on him (Kinda like Maxwell, even though I'm more partial to Maxwell. LOL). Overall, he is truly an attractive man and these styles truly work for him.

I love to see men show off the natural texture of their hair. It is a beautiful thing. I must say that close-cropped haircuts look great too but, I am partial to men that show of the natural beauty of their hair. It is for this reason, that Eric Benet is featured because he shows off the glory of his hair is various styles.

Beautiful Natural Men: Malcolm Jamal Warner

I must admit that as a child (and even to this day), I thought Theo from the Cosby show was so cute! Malcolm Jamal Warner grew to be a nice looking man. I adore his locs and I love the different lengths that they were. I believe he has now cut his hair, however; he is still featured as a Beautiful Natural Man.

Beautiful Natural Men: Aaron McGruder

What a controversial figure he is! I must admit that I admire Aaron McGruder for focusing on the issues within our community. I know some people hate what he stands for, but I believe the hate comes from others rejecting the truth. The truth hurts. He shows us that we still have a long way to come as a people in various aspects of our lives.

His animated show, The Boondocks, brings issues to the forefront. These issues include health, politics, ignorance, and so much more. I think some people may watch The Boondocks only for a good laugh. Yet, he is still giving a message through the show.

Now, let me go on to why he is a beautiful natural man. First off, that baby face he has is so adorable! He always looks michievous to me--like he's up to something. I also appreciate those beautiful eyes and that cute smirk he seems to always wear. Lastly, his free-formed hair is just gorgeous. I think he has cut his hair since the first pic, but nonetheless he is still beautiful.

Beautiful Natural Men: Troy Polamalu

That hair! That hair! That hair! I am not a big watcher of football, however; I am familiar with Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I have always been fascinated with his hair and his confidence to wear it streaming down his back during the games. I must admit that I am sometimes nervous that it will snag while he's playing or that someone will pull it. But whatev...

His hair is simply gorgeous and it compliments his beautiful features. I love the many curls he has in his hair and that he proudly wears them. He is a great example of a man who is proud of his crown of glory. He was even feature in a Head & Shoulders commercial!

Beautiful Natural Men: Eric Jerome Dickey

So, I know I haven't posted in four days!

But, let me jump back in the game by featuring Eric Jerome Dickey as the next beautiful natural man. Eric Jerome Dickey is a beautiful man. His locs are simply gorgeous! I have watched them progress over the years from a short caesar cut, to baby locs, to mid-length, to the length they are at now. Through every stage he looked nice and he just continued to evolve.

Additionally, I must admit that I am a HUGE fan of Eric Jerome Dickey. I have read almost all of his books. So far, I have not read "Pleasure" and "Resurrecting the Dead". I don't think I will ever be reading "Pleasure" because it may be a little to intense for me. And I will be buying "Resurrecting the Dead" when its cheaper or in paperback. I mean I love Eric Jerome Dickey but, I can't dish out $27.95 right now. I'm a thrifty chick on a budget:-)

Beautiful Natural Men: Allen Iverson

Whew!! I remember when I first saw Allen Iverson. I was in high school and he was in the NBA playoffs...around 2001. Mind you, I have never watched the NBA playoffs before this and never watched them after this. But, I watched them steadily that year for Allen Iverson alone. LOL:-)

Simply put, Allen Iverson is beautiful. Those eyes, those lips, those tattoos ...I can go on. But his hair is gorgeous. He is usually rocking the intricate braids, which I absolutely love. Back in the early 2000s, he had an influence on the popularity of the intricate cornrows with the fellows and the ladies. Everybody was rocking them.

He is definitely a beautiful natural man.

Beautiful Natural Men: Maxwell

As I continue my blogging, I have so many topics that I want to discuss! Because of this I must stay focused and organize some topics into segments. A new segment I will be starting is "Beautiful Natural Men". And of course I had to start with the talented, beautiful, and engaging Maxwell.

I am a major fan of Maxwell because when it seemed that music was beginning to have no hope he brought it back to me. I love his albums and probably wouldn't know how to react if I ever met him in life:-) Also, I have to give a shout out to one of my favorite songs by him, which is "For Lovers Only". When the Lord blesses me with the man he will have for me, I dream of playing this song at my wedding. However, I am digressing...

Not only are Maxwell's voice and poetic lyrics beautiful, but he is also beautiful physically. I adored his hair when he was wearing the cornrows leading into the braids. I am helpless to his free-formed afro. And I can appreciate his closer cropped curls. I have stated it before but, I'll say it again...I love diversity. Maxwell shows that we can change and evolve with our hair and our lives. All of his styles were gorgeous, which allows me to truly say that he is a beautiful black man and a beautiful natural man.
